In recent weeks, pop star Kesha has been at the forefront of many mainstream news radars, including having a massive presence across social media. The story dominating the media is of her battle with her producer Dr Luke of Sony Music Entertainment who she has claimed has previously drugged and abused her, emotionally, physically, verbally and sexually.
Online campaign: "I STAND WITH KESHA" |
The main articles I looked at were from The Guardian, a paper with a widely considered left-wing political stance, and it is interesting to note the more liberal stance they took on the story, discussing the support Kesha has received rather than any skepticism regarding the case. Likewise, the articels from The Guardian also discuss more liberal issues such as justice than they might otherwise if they were more conservative in their political views:
"This year Tumblr account The Industry Ain’t Safe launched for women in the music industry to share their experiences of being sexually harassed. Eva Wiseman "
In the week before last, Kesha lost her ongoing court case against Dr Luke regarding her allegations and request to be released from her contract. Whilst I understand that this is mainly due to there being a lack of evidence to support her claims, I feel that is unnecessary for her to still be tied to her contract regardless of whether or not Dr Luke is charged for the other counts: for example, rape.

This is a very good account on the article with reasoning of why the news outlet posted this. I think it is also important to include your own opinion about the article in it too.
