This week in the news, allegations of rape have been made against a former member of boyband JLS - Oritse Williams. The story was covered by most major news networks, including BBC, Sky and tabloids such as The Mirror and The Sun.

In regards to the coverage of the story, the BBC took a neutral approach as per usual, alongside Sky, in reporting the initial facts and not making further comments. However, The Mirror, a traditionally considered left-wing British tabloid, included a breadth of information that seemed to act as testimony to Oritse's character:
"He has been a carer since the age of 12 for his mum Sonia, who suffers from multiple sclerosis. The 30-year-old is an ambassador for the MS Society and music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins and a two-year-old son called Omre with ex-girlfriend dancer AJ Azari."
By including that Oritse is a carer and also a father, it seems as though the tabloid is choosing to positively represent the singer, rather than the typical approach in representing men that have had rape allegations made against them that the media often adopts.
