Weekly News (05/12/2016)
Monday, December 05, 2016Following Scarlett Moffatt's I'm A Celebrity Victory, Piers Morgan has joined in with the discussion as to whether or not she is a "real" celebrity, as reported by The Sun.
Of the article, I feel as though this is a classic example of The Sun using sensationalism to materialise a story that shouldn't really be a story. The headline reads:
WHO IS SHE?
Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan pours cold water on Scarlett Moffatt’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here victory
The phrase "pours cold water on" is used repeatedly within the headline and the body of the article, suggesting the physical action rather than the metaphorical use, although the latter is meant by the term. As for the actual story, I feel as though the topic matter brings up the issue of elitism as well as bringing forward the conversation of what defines a celebrity and what makes a person "worthy" of being one?
Morgan said "I'm not sure what it says about the world when someone who is famous for watching TV wins a TV show", although I feel as though this detracts from the essence of the show that is based on likeability, not level of fame. Likewise, it suggests that a person who is not already "famous" or a "celebrity" has lesser worth than a person who is.

This is a very interesting article and will be relatable to our case study for the exam. You've given a good amount of description and did well in analysing the text. To improve you could include an image and further develop your personal opinion.
