As reported by BBC News, a group of unidentified gunmen have killed at least five people at a beach resort in southern Ivory Coast, although other reports claim that the death toll is higher.

The BBC write that "reporter Maud Jullien says Ivory Coast has been identified as one of several countries in West Africa at risk of being targeted by Islamist militants" and that "luxury hotels were targeted by such groups in Mali in November and Burkina Faso in January" which immediately sews the seed that the gunmen belonged to a group of Islamist militants that the audience is likely to believe, especially considering how vulnerable the audience is currently to information regarding ISIS and the likes of, with the recent popularity of Islamaphobia. In regards to the hypodermic needle theory, the audience are likely to believe that Islamist militants are the culprits of the shootings as a source that is widely considered to be unbias and trustworthy has released a statement supporting this belief.

I think that this is a relevant story since it addresses issues concerning terrorism and Islamaphobia. Likewise, it is a story that is having an affect right now. Information is currently being revealed and statistics released to help piece together what has happened.
