This week, a story written by the Telegraph told of a drunk driver in Yorkshire hiding from the police in a nativity scene. The North Yorkshire Police released the story by posting a picture of the crashed car on Twitter.
The media responded with a range of humorous tweets in response to the story being released by the police.
The story caught my attention by the sensationalism in the title, caused by the fact that it is an extraordinary situation with relevance to the particular mood of this time of year - Christmas.
I liked the story because it makes a break from the usual depressive, serious nature of many of the stories dominating the news of modern culture. Likewise, it is relevant to the time of the year, with reference to nativity which belongs to the Christmas semantic field.
